We are a not-for-profit organisation with around 250 staff helping to support more than 150,000 people in specialist, professional and technical roles across the private and public sectors. 

Prospect is looking for a Negotiations Officer to join our Defence Team, based in our Headquarters, London Victoria. The Defence Team cover various employers in both the public and private sector, including MOD, BAE Systems, Babcock and AWE, as well a portfolio of projects around issues such as defence procurement, social value, combatting harassment and bullying, and radiological protection. This is a UK wide role that will require travel.   

This role will support and advise branches and members to meet their needs and ensure successful outcomes through providing individual and collective representation. Helping to identify, train and develop representatives and contributing to our national campaigning and networking activities will be a key part of the post. 

You will also be involved in expanding the coverage of collective bargaining, dealing effectively with personal casework, building, and maintaining effective and resilient branch relationships and structures.

Essential 

·       Good communication skills  

·       Act calmly and professionally in negotiations 

·       Good understanding of employment law 

·       Have strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills.  

·       Demonstrate leadership and be prepared to take ownership when dealing with difficulties such as when negotiating with employers and providing advocacy. 

·       Communicate effectively with colleagues, representatives, members, and employers. 

·       Develop branch capabilities for organisation and recruitment and to work on specific issues-based and general recruitment campaigns. 

·       Manage personal autonomy whilst also working well as part of a team and across boundaries to sustain relationships with employers, groups of members and colleagues. 

·       Want to make the world of work better for everyone through promoting membership and the values of the trade union movement. 

Desirable 

·       Good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office/365 suite, Outlook and Teams 

·       Project management and/or campaigning experience 

·       Valid UK driving licence. 

 

 

You will receive an annual incremental salary steps until the maximum (£69,209) is reached.
