The Role

Do you want to make the world of work better for everyone through promoting membership and the values of the trade union movement?

Prospect is looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as part of our Yorkshire and North East regional team providing representation, support and advice to union members and branches in order to meet their needs and ensure successful outcomes.  

The postholder will be responsible for undertaking personal casework and supporting collective representation and bargaining for workplace branches and regional members.  Prospect’s membership is diverse, spanning public and private sectors, l including energy, science, education and heritage sectors.

In addition, the postholder will be responsible for developing branch capability and for campaigning.

You will need to:

  • Act calmly and professionally in negotiations to meet members’ needs.
  • Deal effectively with personal casework supporting and advising members.
  • Demonstrate leadership and be prepared to take ownership when dealing with difficulties such as when negotiating with employers and providing advocacy.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, reps, members and employers.
  • Have strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage personal autonomy whilst working across boundaries to sustain relationships with employers, groups of members and colleagues.
  • Be willing to travel and have a current driving license.

Where this role fits in

This role is part of the Prospect Yorkshire and North East office, based in Doncaster, but with some travel outside of the region.  

You will be working with other colleagues in the Yorkshire and North East team, with our volunteer representatives and with support from our research, legal and communications teams.
